Catamarans use sail or engine power for propulsion and is defined as a multihulled ship or boat. They are now mainly used for leisure and sport sailing. Catamarans being multihulled is faster than single-hull boats as the hulls of catamaran are thinner apart from the fact that catamarans are lighter and has wider beam and greater stability. Catamarans are usually seen in coastal waters as they are free to maintain their speed making a good travel or cruising. Following the history catamarans were found to be initially used by Chola Dynasty. |
